FAQs

How do I book?
You can book over the phone by giving us a call on 020 8536 5555 Monday-Sunday 10am-5pm.

When you book online, remember that you need to select your ‘Day Pass’ before going on to choose any events or exhibition sessions you would like to attend.

Your group is able to split up to attend different events throughout the day, so make sure you let us know how many adults and children will be attending each session.

If you are an Annual Pass Member, you are entitled to priority booking for certain events. Please get in touch for more information.

We encourage you to make a pre-booking and include any events you would like to attend during your visit to avoid disappointment. If you do not wish to use your event tickets once you arrive at Discover please pass them back to our reception.
Discover is open from 10am to 5pm every day. If you have booked for an event, we recommend that you arrive at least 15 minutes before the start time to pick up your tickets and find your way. You are welcome to join us before your event or stay after it has finished and play in our Story World or in our Story Garden.
Discover is easily accessible by tube (Central Line, Jubilee Line), train (Mainline from Liverpool Street), DLR (Stratford, or Stratford High Street), bus and cycle. For more information please go to our ‘Plan Your Visit’ page or www.tfl.gov.uk
Unfortunately there is no parking available on the Discover site. The closest parking is in the Stratford Shopping Centre (10 mins walk). Find out more about local parking options here.
Newham residents, over 65s, and claimants of Jobseekers Allowance are entitled to make use of our concession price. Disabled visitors are entitled to one concessionary ticket and one free companion/carer ticket.

We may ask that you show proof of your concession when you arrive at Discover so please bring appropriate documentation.

Discover does not charge for children under 2-years-old except for some special events, such as our Christmas event. Please check with us if you would like more details.
If you have made a booking and find that you are unable to use it, please call our bookings line. If you can provide us with 24 hours’ notice we will arrange for you to visit us another time. Discover will not issue refunds, credit vouchers or gift vouchers under these circumstances.
Once you have purchased your Day Pass you are welcome to come and go as you please during that day. We will ask to see your tickets again when you re-enter so please keep them with you.
Unfortunately Discover is designed for children aged 0-11 only. Each event will have the age suitability marked against it.
The age range is a guide so that your children get the most out of the events that we run. Older or younger children in your group will be able to attend sessions with their friends or siblings but young children may need additional supervision from the adults in your group during storytelling sessions. Older children will need to be generous to the toddlers during the events for younger children.

There may be some events – workshops or author events for example – that very young children would not be able to take part in. Please do not be offended if we advise you not to take your children to events which we think are not suitable.

All children must be accompanied by an adult during their visit; this includes all workshops, exhibitions and storytelling events. Discover requires a ratio of 1 adult to 5 children. Discover’s definition of an adult is anyone aged 16 years of age or over.
Discover has a brand new café with plenty of seating for customers who buy drinks, snacks and meals. There will be limited seating available to customers who would prefer to bring their own food.
Unfortunately, we are unable to heat any food brought from outside in our café microwave or oven.
We will do our best to find you a quiet and private space for prayer or reflection but please be aware that on some days this may not be possible. You will be required to keep your children with you or leave them with another adult in your party.

Westfield provides prayer space and you are welcome to return to Discover throughout the day on presentation of your ticket.

You are welcome to breastfeed your child wherever you feel comfortable at Discover. If you would like a private space, please talk to a member of staff and we will do our best to accommodate you.
Discover is spread over 4 floors and is accessible throughout. We have a lift between floors and accessible toilets on each level.
If you would like any more information about this or our Mighty Mega Club for children with SEN and their families, please call us on 020 8536 5555.
Discover welcomes all groups, large and small. However, we strongly recommend pre-booking especially if you would like to take part in our events. Discover requires that a ratio of 1 adult to 5 children is observed and that children are supervised throughout your visit. If you wish to book a school, nursery group or community group visit or a birthday party, please call us on 020 8536 5555 so we can discuss your requirements.

Unfortunately, we are unable to reserve lunch space for any group and we ask that you free up our picnic areas once you have finished so that other families can use them. Please note that we do not allow birthday candles or knives on site.

Yes, there are a limited number of free lockers available in our buggy parking area.
Discover has designated areas to leave your buggy, and lockers to store your belongings. You are welcome to take your buggy into our café or garden, however for health and safety reasons we ask that buggies and pushchairs are not taken into our Story World or exhibition.
