Fundraising at Discover

Discover is an independent organization with charitable status. It is the UK’s first hands-on creative centre for children, with a vision to support and encourage creativity and learning in one of the most deprived parts of the country. Discover receives no central government or local core revenue. We have to fundraise for every element of our work, with a rolling fundraising programme permanently in place so we can keep entry prices affordably low for everyone in the community.

To help with the continuous fundraising task, Discover is always happy to explore fresh fundraising ideas with individuals, groups, or companies who want to support us. Every £1 that is raised helps ensure that Discover’s exciting programmes for children and families remain as colourful and thrilling as ever.

There are a number of different ways you could help us with fundraising.

Please click here to find out how.

Individuals

Discover serves three of the most economically deprived boroughs in the UK. Research shows that children living in severe poverty and social isolation are excluded form leisure activities that other children take for granted. This has a significant impact on their social and language development skills crucial to children’s creative and learning abilities.

If you would like to make a contribution as an individual here are just a few of the ways your money can help:

  • £20 Unlimited entry to Discover for a year for one parent/carer and a child under 2
  • £55 Unlimited entry to Discover for a year for a Family of 6 members
  • £100 A visit to Discover by a class of 30 children
  • £500 An arts events on the Story Trail, for example a music or dance workshop
  • £1,000 Unlimited entry to Discover for a year for 20 local families
  • £5,000 A holiday project for disabled children
  • £25,000 A new Exhibition in our refurbished basement space

Donors

By making a contribution, no matter how big or small, you will be helping us. With £100 you can make a real difference to what happens here at Discover. As a donor you can of course be acknowledged on our website and know that you have helped consolidate the fabric of what makes Discover special.

Gift Aid

Discover is a registered charity which means that for every pound you give, we will receive an extra 22 pence from the Inland Revenue, helping your donation go further.

This means that £10 can be turned into £12.20 just so long as donations are made through Gift Aid. Imagine what a difference that could make, and it doesn’t cost you a thing.

Gift Aid is only applicable to UK taxpayers.  You will be asked to complete a brief form with your name and signature when signing up for Gift Aid on your contribution or donation.
