When the moon rises high and the stars twinkle, it is bedtime for the baby animals of the Indian forest. But tonight, when the skies turn dark and the night grows stormy, the little ones can’t sleep. SWISH-SWISH! CRACK-TRACK! FLASH-SNAP! goes the storm. Listen to songs and folktales and make beautiful masks, whilst Chitra and Poonam tell you about what happens in their fabulous new book.

This event will be followed by a book signing.

“The rule and the game: a sensory reading lab”

To read is to look, move between word and image, cross page to page.

Join us this half-term at our Transbook Exhibition as we set new rules for the reader, rules that let the reader play, take action, feel a story and dive into it. Read with your senses through the imaginary territory created by children’s authors from across Europe that unfurl books from front to back; transitioning reading into an immersive adventure across the page.

This exhibition was created by the Transbook European project and brought to London by ELCAF.

About Transbook:

“The rule and the game: a sensory reading lab” is an exhibition designed by the Salon du Livre et de la Presse Jeunesse en Seine-Saint-Denis (France) in the framework of the Transbook European project. Transbook, Children’s Literature On
the Move initiative to promote the digital transition and internationalisation of the children’s publishing industry.

It is co-funded for 2014-2018 under the Europe Creative programme of the European Union, in partnership with Europäische Kinder- und Jugendbuchmesse (Saarbrücken, Germany), ART BASICS for CHILDREN (Brussels, Belgium), Tantàgora (Barcelona, Spain), Hamelin Culturale Associazione (Bologna, Italy), Nobrow Ltd (London, United Kingdom), Literárne informaçné centrum (Bratislava, Slovakia).
