Come rain or shine, it’s always Story-time

We’ve got summer covered with cool story activities, games and adventures in our Story Worlds and Garden- as well as loads of wonderful author visits & daily film screenings.

Join us for sunny crafts, games and story sessions throughout all of our amazing, immersive worlds & step outside into our Story Garden where you can conquer a pirate ship, climb into a tree house and slide down a fearsome monster’s tongue!

Snail and the Whale birthday celebrations! 

“This is the tale of a tiny snail  and a great big, grey-blue humpback whale.” 

Join Macmillan Children’s Books on Saturday 14 July to celebrate 15 years of The Snail and the Whale, Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler’s delightful tale of adventure and friendship.  One little snail longs to see the world and hitches a lift on the tail of an enormous whale. Together they go on an amazing journey, past icebergs and volcanoes, sharks and penguins… and for one day only, the snail with the itchy foot has hitched a lift to our very own Story Garden!

Can you find the snails hidden around the garden and unscramble the letters to spell a great big word? Join in the fun and you’ll be entered into a lucky dip competition for a chance to win a Snail and the Whale goody bag! This event is included with the purchase of a day-pass or exhibition ticket, simply ask staff on the day if you’d like to join in.

My Dad is my Uncle’s Brother-Joe Lyward

A family is a thing of many parts – a complicated puzzle made of brothers, sisters, mums, dads, uncles, friends, grandparents. Join Joe Lyward to hear how piece by piece, person by person, a little boy and his father put together a picture of their family. 

Joe will be reading from his book, signing copies and running a drawing workshop!
